Mel`s Diner in Beatty

We stopped at Mel's for a quick bite to eat. There was nothing impressive and the restaurant. The menu was standard but the food was good! The service was excellent. 🔷The only two things that were different from most places you eat was the restrooms were outside and they only took CASH(thank God we had some)🔷It was an easy in & out for us! We seen donkeys rooming through the city 😳😂‼️Overall no complaints on our end.

Awesome little hole in the wall. Definitely a turn back in time to the good ol days. Huge portion, fair prices, and everything was delicious. Breakfast ham was amazing! Waitresses were friendly. Will definitely stop again.

Best breakfast/brunch/lunch place in town. The diner opens early every morning and has the best options for breakfast at an affordable price. The selections were fair, prices are great and service is friendly. Highly recommended!

Someone working on the door who I later learned was the owner was extremely rude. As I approached the entrance he gruffly said, "No lady go around I'm in the middle of something here" First of all Mr. Grumpy Pants....I've never been here, had no idea there was another door. A more polite response would have been "oh I'm sorry if you walk around the front the other door is operable." :) Same gentleman was later overheard cursing about traffic and other issues, he's probably a really unhappy person, but nonetheless weary travelers coming in for breakfast could be greeted more professionally. Aside from Mr. Grumpy Pants, the other staff were smiling and friendly and the coffee and our breakfasts were tasty. Had I known the door repairman was actually the owner I might have just left...without coffee. Overall, be kind to tired travelers...we just need coffee ❤

Beatty is a small town, and this diner is truly a small town diner. Cash only, hearty portions, great atmosphere. Frequented by locals and travellers alike.

Great breakfast. My omelette was huge and delicious. Place is cash only but food was reasonably priced. Wish it was closer, don't think I get to go back anytime soon but I for sure will next time I'm in town!

Perfect spot for a breakfast and a rest break.

Service was fast and friendly. Food was excellent and good portions. We would eat here again. The only negative is it was hot inside. No air conditioning and it needed it!! Another customer said something & I didn't hear the waitresses reply but it wasn't remedied. **Cash only**

They had really decent diner style food.

CASH ONLY no ATM!!! Finally got to eat here after several times passing through. Breakfast was decent and a good size portion. No AC or open windows. Ceiling fans didn’t work in the back so it was truly uncomfortable and hot. Lady was truly a nice person. Glad we finally got to stop in.

An ok diner with ok diner food. I had the ham and eggs, hash browns were good, the eggs too undercooked. Food was ok, but the tea tasted like chlorine water, almost undrinkable. I wonder why tiny towns can't make better food. This town would certainly need it. Service was ok.

Mel's has excellent breakfast. I have had lunch there and it was good as well.Being a local the inconsistency of their hours make it very difficult to eat there.Their website says 1:00 - 1:30 closing.Earlier this week I went there at 12:45. They were closed. Today I pulled up at 11:53 and they were closing. don't have time to play this kind of game to support a business. As things open my Business will be elsewhere.

Reasonable and good food, the people were friendly and the service was awesome. We will definitely eat there again.

Service was friendly, food was out fast and it was delicious. Great place to stop for breakfast and lunch. They do close around 1 and 130, so don't spend too much time in Rhyolite and miss out! They were nice enough to customize my burger with a sunny side egg on top! Thanks for a great meal.

Very nice eggs, bacon, hash browns and biscuit. Pot of coffee at table. Breakfast ends at 11am.

Quaint 50's style diner with 10 tables. Ample portions at a nice price. Waitress is attentive and pleasant. The picture here shows how far from modern technology this town operates. Quaint.

We came from Alabama to visit Death Valley. Ended up coming here every morning (about 10am) after our early morning park visits for an amazing breakfast. Very sweet waitress, and the chef knows what he’s doing. It’s a great feeling in the restaurant and the food is delicious.

Nice place, nice folks, good food (large portions) and service. Good coffee. Just right for an early breakfast.

Small town great people great place

We stopped there on the way to the Death Valley. Great place for cheap food. A diner like you see it in movies. I highly rexommend it for everybody who wants to see the old-school America. Very friendly service. Support local restaurants instead of the chains or the expensive tourist spots!

Stopped here on a motorbike trip with four others through Death Valley. The portions were generous and the fries were excellent...the best I've tasted since a child. This place was a welcome sight after travelling through Death Valley and a geat place to stop for lunch. Motorcyclists may want to strongly consider this place for lunch. Service was great. One small point, no ice cream or dessert...but no room for that after the size of the meals.

Very friendly staff. Great food. Portions are large and they guarantee to keep you full for a long time. Food was freshly made. They bring you a coffee just right to the table so you can refill your cup whenever you want. The Caffe is cozy and welcoming. I would highly recommend it

Great little diner. Throwback to 50s-60s. Some neat memorabilia (mostly Coke) & photos. Fantastic omelet, cooked perfectly with eggs slightly wet, not completely baked thru & tasteless. Sat at the counter, saw the cook wearing a hat with a 38snub saying 'I Don't Dial 911" Knew immediately that I was in the right place.Definitely recommend to all. Maybe these guys will be standing by your vehicle like they were for me.
